Global Green Congress Passes Resolution Supporting Tibet

New York: The second Global Green Congress held in Sao Paoulo, Brazil, from 1-4 May, passed a resolution strongly condemning China's brutal repression of the Tibetan demonstrations in Tibet and expressed serious concern about the Chinese government's policy of assimilating large number of Chinese immigrants into Tibet.

Chamdo (Ch: Changdu) County, Kham (incorporated into Chamdo Prefecture, "TAR") - Tibetan man shot and killed after he resists arrest

At around 9 am on 4 May, seven People's Security Bureau (PSB) officials arrived at the home of Akar Tashi (around 38/39 years of age) in Lathok Yuchu Township, Chamdo County. The officials attempted to arrest Akar Tashi which resulted in a scuffle.

Statement by Special Envoy of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Kasur Lodi Gyaltsen Gyari

Envoy Kelsang Gyaltsen and I had the honour of briefing His Holiness the Dalai Lama immediately after our arrival yesterday from China. Kalon Tripa, Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche, joined us in the briefing. We also briefed the Deputy Speaker, Mrs. Dolma Gyari, this morning. The Speaker, Mr. Karma Choephel, is currently on an official visit.

China-Tibet talks held in 'frank and candid manner'

Envoys of His Holiness the Dalai Lama said recent crisis in Tibet is a clear symptom of deeply felt grievances and resentment of the Tibetans with China's policies.

Dharamshala: The two envoys of His Holiness the Dalai Lama said Thursday both sides have expressed strong and divergent views on the nature as well as the causes of the recent tragic events in Tibet in a 'frank and candid manner'.

Radiohead stage Tibet protest

British rockers Radiohead used the opening concert of their world tour to protest against China's human rights record in Tibet - by decorating the stage with Tibetan flags.

The 'Creep' hitmakers played the first date of their tour at the Cruzan Amphitheatre in Florida on Monday, and used the opportunity to express their support for the people of Tibet.

Obituary: Lobsang P Lhalungpa

Lobsang P Lhalungpa, who established the first Tibetan language programme of All India Radio and dedicated his service to the preservation of Tibetan Buddhism and culture, died on 28 April, aged 82
